Department Activities during the academic year 2009-2010

Inauguration of VALENS

‘VALENS‘, the Association of CIET-MBAs,was inaugurated on 4th of November 2009 by Dr.K.A.Chinnaraju, Secretary/Director in the august presence of Dr.N.Nagarajan, Principal, CIET. The Director, in his thought-provoking inaugural address dwelt in length the importance of adapting to environmental changes. He cited many an example where ignoring environmental changes led to catastrophic results. He stressed the need to adapt, grow and stabilize, if the firms wanted to survive in
the competitive world.Earlier, Dr.T.Raju, Professor and Head, MBADepartment, administered oath of office to the office –bearers of VALENS.The Principal, while releasing the vision, mission and the quality statements policy of the department,appreciated the efforts taken in forming an association within a short period.Mr.V.Satheeshkumar,student-chairman,unveiled the logo of the Valens.
 

Personality Development Program

“Stress Management through Yoga” a daylong program on stress management was conducted on 25/01/2010 for the MBA students of CIET and CIMAT. The resource person Mr.S.Senthil Kumar of Kanyakumari Vivekananda Kendra, Coimbatore, stressed the need for yoga in stress management.
 

Students Exchange Program

Students exchange program is a novel and time- tested method of enhancing the effectiveness of learning process. Learning in a new environment with hitherto unknown individuals is an exhilarating experience. The MBA department of CIET had an opportunity to host a students exchange program on  28th and 29th of April 2010. Forty six students from Oxford Engineering College , Bangalore, 41 from Auden Technology and Management Academy ,Bangalore and 22 from CIET enthusiastically participated. The two-day program included interactive sessions with experts from the industry as well as the academia followed by group discussions, case analysis and presentations of creative advertisements .
 

Soft Skill Development Program

To explore the lateral potential and fine-tune the managerial skills of the students programmes were conducted by experts in the field of soft skill development. Know yourself – an introspection of self’ by Mr.K.Manikandan of Youth Corp on 01.04.2010

Industrial Visits

Industrial visits to understand the practical problems of functioning of various industries are a part of the MBA program
The students visited KNM Textile mills,kavundampalayam on 12th of January 2010 to understand the operations and functions of a textile mill as well as work force management.

TTo have a feel of the rural agricultural marketing,students were taken for an “Industrial visit” to the famous “Pollachi sandai" on 06-02-2010.The students were very much convinced that there is a rich of information to gather from practical marketing to hone up their theoretical knowledge of marketing.

Students visited Ammarun Foundry in Coimbatore on 10.04.10 to acquire firsthand knowledge on functioning of foundries

On 07.05.2010 the students were taken for an industrial visit to Hindustan Photo Film, Ooty , to understand the turn-around strategy of HPF which was in red for quite sometime.

SSR Program

CIET MBAs in association with CIMAT MBAs donated bed- sheets, pillows and other items to the inmates of Al – Ameen YathemKana Hostel on 13.02.2010.

During their industrial visit to Ooty . the students did a campaign to protect Ooty lake from pollution under the students Social Responsibility Program. They distributed hand bills to the locals and tourists highlighting the legacy of Ooty Lake.

To impart observational, recalling and reproducing skills of the students movies were screened at regular intervals
